Microsoft Small Business Manager and Microsoft Business Solutions
Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce supporting small business throughout the Newport Beach and South Orange County area

NetPath Business Systems integrates and implements business applications for the small to medium sized business (SMB) sector.

The business applications we implement are components of "closed loop business systems" we deploy that address the most common objectives of SMB owners and managers.
  • increased sales
  • improved customer service
  • lower operating costs
  • administrative efficiency
  • more effective partner / supplier relationships
  • optimal material and work in process management
  • workforce stability
  • consistently greater profitability
  • stepped up cash flow
After the analytical process is complete, "goals and objectives" have been set, and both strategic and tactical plans have been created… we execute the project by integrating and implementing one or more industry leading software solutions. We do this using "created processes", the standard Application itself, and the managerial methodologies described on our "services" page. By "created processes", we mean custom programming, scripting, tailoring, modifying or any technical or "semi" technical activity that will adapt the business solutions into the enterprise workflow in a seamless and efficient manner.

The applications we've most commonly deployed in helping our clients achieve their objectives include:

Accounting Systems / Financial Reporting
An accounting system records and reports on the financial flows that occur within your business. It is critical to the success of any business extending beyond the scope of a one man corner vendor - and is often metaphorically referred to as the "lifeblood" and "nervous system" of an organization.

A well architected accounting system will seamlessly integrate the departmental processes that create the financial flows into a series of financial and managerial reports. Financial reports are broadly used to measure overall success of the business and identify potential or existing problem areas after they have occurred. Managerial reports put more current information into the hands of departmental managers so they can act quickly to address problem areas before they show up in the financial reports.

Examples of financial reports include the Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flows. Examples of managerial reports include such documents as Aged Trail Balance of Accounts Receivable, Work in Process reports, Stock Status (inventory) reports, and so on.

The departmental processes that create the financial flows would include such areas as the Sales department - generating Quotes, Orders, Invoices and the transactions that flow through Accounts Receivable and various types of Sales Analysis. The Purchasing department manages Requisitions, Purchase Orders, supplier relationships, and the transactions that flow through the Accounts Payable area. Other departmental areas managed by an effective accounting system include Shipping / Receiving, Inventory, General and Administrative, Payroll (HR) and more.

Search Engine Optimization
This is a very specialized area that has evolved out of our involvement in a number of "high visibility" web portals (http://www.TheInteriorDesigner.com). Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of structuring and promoting a website to that it places favorably (usually on page one) on major search engines… such as Google.com and Yahoo.com - for the targeted search terms. The primary objective of most SEO engagements is to increase the qualified traffic of leads and prospective customers for a specific sales endeavor. Many companies now routinely maintain multiple websites, often referred to as "Gateways", to successfully steer the Internet savvy segment of their target market toward their Sales department.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
CRM is an application that addresses managerial efficiencies for the "front end" of your business. The primary objective of a CRM system is to increase sales. This is done through a controlled process (the "application") that manages the interactions of your marketing department, sales force and customer service staff with prospective or existing customers.

A CRM "Marketing" component will store, manage and track the marketing collaterals provided to the sales department. Additionally, the Marketing component helps plan, execute, manage and measure the effectiveness of marketing strategies and specific campaigns and / or tactical activities.

A CRM "Sales" component will build and store a "pipeline" (prospective "prospects" - aka "suspects"), record and easily retrieve activity associated with a specific prospect or customer, and report individually and "in the aggregate" the likelihood of achieving a certain measure of sales success.

A CRM "Service" component insures that customer satisfaction is addressed and managed in timely and effective manner using such features as service desk / rep management, customer incident tracking and "knowledgebase" administration.

Custom Website Development
Websites have become ubiquitous throughout the business world. It's hard to imagine a company with serious business aspirations not having one or more websites to help give them a competitive advantage in the various aspects of their business.

Websites are created for a reason… so there is usually one or more objectives behind the creation of a website. In the broadest sense, commercial websites typically focus on one or more of these objectives:
  • to help locate and/or direct (search engines, directories)
  • to inform and/or motivate (marketing related content)
  • to build an 'opt in' mail list of prospective customers (market related)
  • to build a 'community' (customer service)
  • to sell and/or collect payment (sales related - e-commerce shopping cart)
  • to support customers (customer service)
    • to educate
    • to train
    • for maintenance assistance
    • for problem solving
    • for improved product usage
  • to provide application services (sales and customer service, supplier relationships)
  • for collaborative workgroups (all departments)
  • for centralized marketing (sales and marketing)

The most commonly deployed types of websites are:

  • Brochure, or 'Billboard' websites
  • Dynamic, database-driven (content/membership) websites
  • E-Commerce websites
  • Auction websites
  • Application portals
  • Collaborative websites

E-Commerce website
An e-commerce website is most often (but not always) a dynamic, database driven site that also has a 'shopping cart' function. The purpose of an e-commerce website is to sell products and/or services. An e-commerce website is driven by a 'shopping cart' program (an e-commerce "server") that supports the order entry, invoicing and often, the 'settlement' (payment) function. E-commerce websites can be either B2C (business to consumer), B2B (business to business)... or both.

A visitor locates (within the website) products they want to buy and then selects those items by clicking an "add to cart" button located nearby. The product information is then stored in a database as part of an order record. The visitor continues in this cycle until they have selected all the products they want. They then click a "complete this order" button and are asked to enter shipping and payment information. Once done, payment procedures are invoked (credit card, cyber cash, generate invoice, etc.) and product is shipped to the buyer.

In many instances, the e-commerce function can be integrated with the accounting system so that orders from the website are entered automatically into the local accounting system (order entry / billing / accounts receivable) for processing.
